current issues

ROMAINE LETTUCE: 1/10/19- As of January 9th the CDC has reported that the E. coli outbreak linked to romaine grown in the California Central Coast region appears to be over. It is unlikely that any product from the affected region is still available in the market. The FDA is not advising consumers to avoid any romaine from any growing region at this time.

In an effort to better identify products and their origin, new labeling has been placed on all romaine products indicating what growing area it is from and when it was packed. The FDA will continue to investigate potential sources and contributing factors that led to this outbreak in order to inform future prevention efforts.

We are dedicated to the safety and quality of the products we sell and will continue to follow all food safety related investigations and news. If at any time you have questions or concerns please contact our office at 916-446-8918.

CAULIFLOWER: 12/14/18- Several news stories have been released today declaring a recall on cauliflower. This pertains only to a voluntary recall by Adam Bros. Farming Inc. of Santa Maria California for certain products harvested between Nov 27th and Nov 30th. At this time Adam Bros. has recalled cauliflower, red leaf, and green leaf lettuce from this farm only. A sediment sample taken from a water reservoir at one ranch owned and operated by Adam Bros in Santa Barbara County tested positive for the same E. coli strain associated with the current outbreak linked to romaine.

Please know that Produce Express does not purchase or stock any produce from Adam Bros. Farming Inc. All our cauliflower and lettuce is unaffected by Adam Bros. voluntary recall.

We are committed to providing all our customers with safe and wholesome quality products and will continue to monitor information surrounding the entire E. coli outbreak as it becomes available. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office at 916-446-8918
