Twin Peaks Orchards Farm Tour
Our first farm tour of 2020 is quickly approaching! We will be heading out to Twin Peaks Orchards in Newcastle on Monday, January 20th. With citrus season in full swing, the farm is bursting with bright, seasonal fruit all around. After our tour of exploring the orchards and groves, there will be a fun mocktail class featuring Twin Peaks citrus. To finish the day, Chef Tyler Bond will be preparing a wonderful lunch for all who are attending. The tour is expected to leave at 9am and will return by 2pm.
Twin Peaks Orchards was established in 1912 and has been family owned and operated for more than 100 years. They are a fifth generation family farm which supplies Produce Express with a variety of exceptional fruit. The warm days and cool nights of the spring/summer months result in firm Peaches, Nectarines, Plums, and Apricots with beautiful color and high sugar content. As the seasons change, the cooler climate, and sometimes near freezing temperatures, is ideal for growing Persimmons, Satsuma Mandarins, Blood Oranges, and Grapefruit in the winter months.

Camembert: Their Camembert cheese differs distinctly from Brie by the cultures used to produce the Camembert’s earthy flavor and flowing texture. It is complex, aromatic, and creamy, and its flavor is robust with hints of mushrooms. 8oz round

Mt. Tam: Mt. Tam is their most popular cheese and named for a Northern California landmark- Mt. Tamalpais. It is a bloomy rind cheese with a creamy, buttery flavor and smooth texture. 10oz piece
Red Hawk: Aged four weeks and washed with a brine solution to create a red-orange rind, the pungent aromas complement it’s rich, smooth flavor. 12oz piece
Hop Along: A rich, semi-firm organic cow's milk cheese washed with organic cider and aged 45 days. Hop Along offers bright acidity and flavors of brown bread and milk chocolate with a distinct savory note toward the rind. 5# wheel
