Banana

There are numerous varieties of sweet banana; most have yellow-colored skin, though some varieties have red, pink or purple skin. Bananas vary in flavor and texture, some varieties being more starchy or sweeter than others.

Baby bananas are 4-5 inches in length, with a rich, sweet flavor, creamy texture and thin skin. Because of their size, Baby Bananas make excellent snacks.

Cavendish Banana

The Cavendish Banana is soft with a creamy texture when fully ripe. Color ranges from green to brown depending on ripeness.

Plantain Banana

Plantain Banana

Plantains are usually larger and thicker than the more common Cavendish banana variety and has distinct, tapered ends. The dense flesh is pink to pale yellow with a sticky texture.

Red Banana

Red Banana

The thick skin is dark green and maroon when unripe, turning bronze as they ripen. The pink, ivory-salmon flesh is more firm, than that of a common banana, with a sweet floral flavor.
